Anton Falkeis

Anton Falkeis is a licensed architect in Austria and Liechtenstein. He is co-founder of falkeis|architects_vienna.vaduz and falkeis2architects.building innovation lab.
He started his academic career as a guest researcher at the University of Tokyo, Japan and has lectured at several universities worldwide, most recently at the MIT Media Lab Boston. He was a guest professor at Nanjing University of Art China and is a full professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he has been vice dean of the School of Architecture, dean of the Institute Arts and Society, founding head of the Department of Social Design, and is now head of the Department of Special Topics in Architecture Design. He has been a visiting critic at ETH Zürich and a frequent speaker at international conferences, including keynotes at the Building Lasting Change conference in Vancouver and the Green Building conference in Toronto, Canada.
His architectural work has been widely published and exhibited at Venice Biennale, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Los Angeles, Vienna, Berlin and Toronto. His writings include Featureless City, Western Style and Eastern Mind, Urbanizing the World, Thinking out of the Urban Design Toolbox, Urban Change, and Active Buildings.
Falkeis is a JSPS fellow of the Japan Society for
the Promotion of Science and the National Winner of the Energy Globe
Award 2020. He holds a patent for building integrated energy
generating systems.
