Florian studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (studios of Wilhelm Holzbauer, Zvi Hecker, Zaha Hadid and Wolf D. Prix), graduating in 2005. In 2003, he also attended the Berlage Institute’s Masterclass with Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam.
Since 2005, Medicus has been teaching structural design (Klaus Bollinger) and architectural theory at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. He has also lectured at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck, Salzburger Sommerakademie, TU Berlin, Henry-Moore-Institute, Leeds, and Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm.
He is co-editor of Unbuildable Tatlin?! (Springer, 2012), Endless Kiesler (Birkhäuser, 2015) and Stressing Wachsmann (Birkhäuser, 2020). He has curated exhibitions on experimental architecture (New Frontiers) and frequently publishes in the fields of architecture and the fine arts.
FM is a practicing architect and, since 2012, head of DACUNA (www.dacuna.at) in Salzburg and Munich. He co-founded PR!MS42 with Christoph Opperer in 2020.
