Too Dumb for New York, Too Ugly for LA
Mark Lee
Mark Lee is principal of Los Angeles-based Johnston Marklee & Associates. He has taught at the ETH in Zurich, UCLA, and currently holds a guest professorship at the Technical University Berlin.
Johnston Marklee’s portfolio is distinguished by its conceptual approach to each project, distilling its complexity into coherent , singular solutions. While maintaining a deep commitment to architecture history and the discipline’s ongoing discourse, the firm’s creative process accomodates the influence of collaborations beyond those typical to architecture. The firm’s portfolio includes residential, commercial, and institutional projects in the United States and abroad.
Mark Lee’s academic research is based on the critical reassessments of architectural and urban design history, developing theories on the urban development and housing at border cities and culture-specific topological landscapes.
