Peter Noever’s work has always focused on the contemporary aspect, on the present, on the development of art, architecture and design today. His strategy, also in connection with his 25 years as director and artistic director of the MAK in Vienna, Los Angeles and Moscow, aims at understanding art, architecture and design as a unified whole and at directing the view to the immanent simultaneity of artistic expression. His explicit interest is in the manifestation of time in its art, which establishes context and is able to intervene in social consciousness. ​“Jetzt – Now” is a radical turning-point in Peter Noever’s career, not unlike the moment when he took over the Haus am Stubenring in February 1986 and faced the global challenge of redefining a traditional art institution. Back then, too, the outcome was uncertain.
