The Institute of Architecture (I oA) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna offers a three-year accredited master’s program (MArch) devoted to experimental and innovative design in architecture and urban practices. The University of Applied Arts Vienna has an opening for the position of University Professor (m/f/d) of Architectural Design 1 starting from October 1, 2024 for a fixed period of five years, with the possibility of an extension of the contract beyond the fixed period.
The open position entails leading one of the three design studios at the I oA formerly led by Zaha Hadid, Kazuyo Sejima and Cristina Diaz Moreno & Efren Garcia Grinda. The studio is characterized by an urban scale approach, examining the complexity of contemporary situations through multi-scalar architectural responses. The relationships between social, technological, climatic, economic challenges and the built environment are the multiple perspectives through which the studio is seeking a renewed way to address urban conditions, to imagine novel and equitable futures for the many places in which we live together.

The studio has developed a strong position and focus on engaging transformations in contemporary culture and technology with architectural innovation in order to create new spatial experiences and building types. The teaching is located at the spatial and material intersection of the digital and physical and combines technical expertise with cultural awareness to secure the relevance of our students in the field of architecture for decades to come.
We are looking for an internationally recognized architect/practitioner with their own projects and accomplishments. The candidate should have a reputation of professional excellence and a record on high quality standards on realized works or research projects in the architectural field.
