Student researcher positions for ROOTARCH at BC – apply before 11.11.2025

For the INTRA research project ROOTARCH at the Department of Building Construction at the University of Applied Arts we are looking for student researchers to support the project. With an interdisciplinary group we will explore principles of plant root growth for architectural design by developing new digital design and production technologies.

Time: one day (8h) per week for 6 months, starting 1.1.2025

Salary: based on student assistant salary level at Angewandte

Tasks:

  • supporting organization and administration of the project
  • carrying out basic research on plant roots in the biolab
  • collaboration in translational research into architectural design proposals
  • 3D printing and prototyping 
  • collaborating in design workshops with students
  • collaborating in documentation and publishing

Qualifications:

  • interest and preferable knowledge in biodesign
  • engagement, independent and organized workmode
  • excellent command of digital tools 3D softwares and programming
  • experience in 3D printing and hands-on modelmaking
  • excellent spoken and written English
